Dreams be Dreams

Twists and Weaves
Thrusts and Heaves
black and grey
it coils then spreads
across my sky it lays
I turn and dreams become real
as I drift to sleep
and see his face.

He beckons me; reaches out
I follow, turning my head
to look back
at what I've left behind:
I see a collection of
Shadows and dark shapes
they gather and with force
push me farther towards my
bright destination.

I turn my head back
and watch where I'm heading
his hand with mine, he leads me
I follow, my fetters falling
as the shackles loosen
I walk in his footsteps and
we Become one.

I am Home.

Seeing the World through 'Rose' Colored Glasses

I began in this world with
Pansies and sunflowers
A furry companion
And an obsession with horses.

The world kept from me was of
Drug deals and hard drives
Skeletons kept in closets
Bursting with other people's bones
Trying to escape as fast as their owners.

I survived that world of
Sewing machines and bursting seams
With drumsticks and laughter.

But soon the beat turned to
Red eyes,
White pills,
and Blue walls,
Half an hour a week
And my tour of duty was over.

The world I escaped to was full of
Sunshine and saltwater
Sword fern and British accents
Bob Marley, Jack Johnson
And Dave Matthews band.
Then the friendship bracelets
Fell off and I started to forget
Why they mattered so much.

I learned that in the world of
Potatoes and sagging pews
each Tuesday at 2:00,
Wal-Mart and Midnight curfew
That when one gets the flu
Worshipping the porcelain goddess
Is blasphemous,
And open and honest communication
Does not exist.

Now I live in a world of
Cardboard and packing tape
Recycling and laundry baskets
French toast and Dialysate.
So it seems
That all my world’s have given me
Are wilted flowers
And dead dogs.

Check the Floor...

This is a song I wrote recently...I've come out of a dry spell and have been writing daily...yay!!!
A little bit on the cheesy side, but just imagine it with an acoustic guitar playing along happily in the background.
Inspired by a line in the song "God's Bathroom Floor" by Atmosphere
(Warning: Don't Google it, the song is pretty explicit and has almost nothing to do with the one I wrote seen here)

“God's got nice tiles”

Squares underneath my feet spin round and round
as I dance in circles to music in my head
circles, squares, and lines
this geometry is a mystery to me
but since when did the tiles on the floor
become a metaphor?

And everything in life seems shades of grey
but its really all black and white
and by the time that the whole truth has come out
who cares if you're wrong or you're right?
And does it really matter what road we choose
if we get to where we're going?
What if we spin too fast
and as we're slowing down we pass our destination not knowing?

And if I get lost on the way
who's gonna say
"You need to turn around?"

I get dizzy easily;
if you can’t help me
you'll surely find me on the ground.

Oh, and math and geometry really do make me dizzy.

Ode to Ecclesiastical Endorsement

Woke up at 5:10.
I forgot to Brush my teeth.
Seminary Sucks.

BYU-Provo?
Testimony 101...
I think I might fail.

Heat is Sweltering.
102 degrees.
Modest is Hottest!

Just because I know
and Believe doesn't mean I
have to like the rules.
